The 16' x 42" Teardrop Pallet Rack Add-On Unit extends an existing 16' x 42" pallet rack row by one bay. Each add-on includes 1 upright frame, 6 step beams, and 6 wire decks — everything needed to add 6 pallet positions to your row. The add-on frame bolts to the floor independently and shares a column face with the adjacent bay; no connectors or additional hardware required between bays.

Ships with 1 upright frame, 6 step beams, and 6 wire decks. Must be connected to an existing 16' x 42" starter kit or add-on unit. Beams drop into the teardrop uprights without tools and self-lock with pre-installed safety clips. Wire decks drop into place over the step beams — no hardware required. Frame anchoring is required before loading; anchor bolts are not included and must be sourced locally (½" x 3½" wedge anchors, 2 required).

Bolted frame design for easy repair — Horizontal and diagonal braces bolt to the columns, meaning damaged components can be replaced individually without scrapping the whole frame. Welded uprights cannot offer this.

Fire code ready — Galvanized wire decks improve overhead sprinkler effectiveness and are preferred by local fire inspectors over solid decking. They also improve air circulation and reduce dust buildup at every level.

Grows with your operation — Extend further by adding more 16' x 42" Add-On Units at any time. Each add-on shares one upright frame with the adjacent bay, eliminating redundant steel and keeping cost per bay down as you scale.

Floor Anchors (Required, Not Included): Each upright frame must be anchored to the floor before loading. Use ½" diameter wedge anchors with a minimum 3½" embedment — 1 anchor per column, 2 anchors per add-on unit. Anchors are not included and are available at any hardware store. Consult local building codes for specific requirements.

Specifications

Important: Must be used with a compatible 16' x 42" starter kit or add-on unit. Frame capacity is based on 36" beam spacing. Beam capacity is per pair, evenly distributed. Do not exceed rated capacities. All frames must be anchored to the floor before loading. Racks are designed for indoor use only.

How to Select Your Pallet Rack

Frame depth: Your pallet should overhang the frame by 3" at the front and back. For standard 48" deep pallets, use a 42" deep frame. For deeper pallets, use the 48" frame.

Beam length: Measure your pallet width, add at least 3" clearance from pallet to frame on each side, and at least 4" between adjacent pallets. Our 96" beams fit two standard 40" wide pallets per level with proper clearance.

Height: Add the height of your pallet, the load, and each beam. Allow 4" clearance between the top of a load and the beam above. The top beam should be at least 6" below your forklift's maximum lift height.

Starter vs. Add-On: Starter kits include 2 upright frames and are the first bay in a row. Add-on units include 1 upright frame and share one frame with the adjacent bay, reducing cost as you expand.

Shipping Policy

This product ships via freight carrier from Spartanburg, SC. A forklift or suitable lifting device is required to unload — standard liftgate service is not available.

Freight is not included in your order total. After placing your order, a member of our team will contact you within 1 business day to confirm your freight rate. A separate freight invoice will be sent for your approval before your order ships. Your order will not ship until freight is confirmed and paid.

Most orders ship within 3–10 business days of freight payment. Tracking provided via email once your order ships.
