The AMD6 is the Series 1000 Medium Duty add-on kit designed to extend your SMD6 starter unit into a continuous row system. Where a starter unit requires 2 uprights to form a single bay, each add-on unit adds a full bay using only 1 shared upright — eliminating redundant framing, reducing cost per bay, and maximizing your floor footprint.

Ships complete with 1 upright, 6 straight arms, and a brace set — everything needed to attach directly to an existing SMD6 bay. Arms adjust on 3" centers the full height of the upright.

Why expand with the AMD6

Lower cost per bay than a second starter — Add-on units share one upright with the adjacent bay instead of requiring two. You get the same storage bay at a fraction of the full starter price.

Same arm capacity, same system — The AMD6 uses identical Series 1000 arms and hardware as the SMD6. No compatibility concerns, no mixed components — everything integrates directly.

Build as long as you need — Chain multiple AMD6 units together to create a continuous row of any length. Each unit adds one full bay of storage at 6' tall with 12" arms.

Forklift accessible — Open base design allows loading and unloading directly from the aisle, same as the starter unit.

Floor Anchors (Required, Not Included): The add-on upright must be anchored to the floor before use. MECO recommends a minimum of 2 anchors per base — 1 in the front and 1 in the back on opposite sides of the base. Each base has holes for up to 4 anchors. Recommended anchor spec: ½" × 4¼". Anchors are not sold by MECO and must be sourced independently. Building codes vary by location — consult local codes for specific requirements.

Arm capacity decreases at greater heights and arm lengths due to increased bending load on the upright column — a standard cantilever rack engineering characteristic. All capacities are per MECO Omaha specifications based on evenly distributed loads.

Customization & Accessories

Arm Lips

Bolt-on 2" arm lips are available for this model. Lips extend 2" above the arm surface and retain cylindrical loads — pipe, tubing, round bar — that may otherwise roll off the end of the arm. Non-structural; a retention feature only.

Inclined Arms — For cylindrical loads that tend to roll, inclined arms pitch at 20° (approximately 4.36" per foot) to keep material secure on the rack.

Bolt-On Pipe Sockets — Field-installable pipe sockets (1⅜" inside diameter) provide an additional stop at the end of the arm for round stock and tubing.

Drop-In Deck Support Saddles — Convert to a decked system for storing boxes, cartons, or furniture. Pre-engineered to accommodate 2×4 cross supports.

This product ships as industrial freight via motor carrier from Omaha, NE. A forklift or suitable lifting device is required to unload — standard liftgate service is not available.
